It’s obvious that T.S. Eliot never visited Georgia.  If he had, the poet would have known that April is the tastiest month, with the seventh annual Taste of Henry event to be held on April 25th at the brand-new Heritage Park Arena in McDonough.  Participants sample taste-sized portions of appetizers, main courses, and desserts from a variety of different flavors and restaurants, including local favorites such as Seasons Bistro and well-known establishments like LongHorn Steakhouse.  The wide variety of dishes means that there’s something for everyone, with offerings that range from upscale gourmet to down-home southern cookin’.  And after satiating themselves, participants may vote for their favorite restaurants in the “People’s Choice” and “Best Presentation” competitions.

The best part? Since it’s for a great cause, it’ll nourish both your body and your soul.  All proceeds directly benefit A Friend’s House, Henry County’s emergency shelter for abused, neglected, and abandoned children.  A Friend’s House operates as temporary placement for children in the custody of the Department of Family and Children Services, and approximately 40% of its revenues come from community support.  The shelter has doubled its size since opening its doors eight years ago, thanks in part to the donations from previous Taste of Henry benefits, and can now provide around-the-clock care for up to 24 newborn to 18-year-old residents daily.

Taste of Henry will be held on April 25th at the Heritage Park Arena (101 Lake Dow Road, McDonough).  Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors age 60 or older, and $5 for children ages 3 to 12. Children under 3 are free. Tickets can be purchased in advance at select ticket locations or the day of the event at the door.
